Europe Time (Erasmus Mundus_3rd exchange)

Once you get used to do something, you will want to do it more, right? I am talking about traveling. For me, travelling is a part of me so I did not want to settle down .ie finding a job in Phnom Penh but I have to anyway. I kept looking for other opportunity to travel and learn something new, and again exchange program is the best as I am still a student: studying while travelling. Erasmus Mundus was the best experience I could ever get from the exchange program because I have learnt to do everything by myself: doing my visa, finding accommodation, other paper work and more which took the best out of me.

Procedure: online application!

Asia Pacific Next Generation (APNG) and International Youth Forum, Seoul, S.Korea

APNG 14th
Luck believe it or not.... I applied for APNG program but the same work got me into another program which happened at the same place which was Seoul and similar date. Yet, I worked so hard for the first piece about "social media and national election 2013" because I can see the trend and influence from the rest of the world. At APNG, it is technology related program; I love technology and I have learnt so many new interesting things from distinguished participants.
IYF 23rd, Seoul, S.Korea

While at IYF, it was more about discussion and policy making which was very similar to UN simulation in the class except the unorganized procedure and system. What best about this program was that the final resolution which made by discussion from all delegates on policy and solution on social media would be sent to the UN as youth declaration on social media issues. Above all, I got this chance to visit the fast-growing country, South Korea. The country is unique, food is healthy and yummy, people are helpful, and lots of good cosmetic are cheap. Love Korea...

Words of the day: make a lot of network because you do need each other later in life...

Procedure

IYF and APNG: 1, selected (no interview, no transportation support)

IAF seminar, Political Communication, Social Media

After returning back from Rochester, NY, I had to work so hard on my dual degree (senior and junior year). However, I still love to do community service locally and explore new things; one of which is traveling. I knew bong Oudom whom I worked with at International Republican Institute got selected for an International Academy for Leadership (IAF) seminar to Germany focusing on democracy advancement. And, there I went, I got selected :)  I went to Germany on March 2012 while I missed two weeks class.

The power of social media as the head of the Arab Spring will shed huge impact for countries that hunger for democracy and fight against dictatorship.

Words of the day: Feel your heart if you really really want, everything else follows....

Procedure: 1, shortlisted 2, presentation on the topic (there are different topics for the seminar) 3, selection from local committee 4, Thai part (as regional committee) 5, German (board committee). (100USD contribution, everything is fully paid)

Dream Came True (2nd Exchange Program)

My College, Rochester, NY, 2011
"One thing leads to another" is what I believe when applying for USM but I never give up any opportunity that came in hand. No one succeeds without failure but I think I was lucky mostly. I got selected for Asian Institute on Political Economy (AIPE) to Hong Kong and Global Undergraduate Exchange Program to the US. I was really on top of the world since I never thought I would be going to these two top countries I always dreamt of going.

However, dilemma came since I had to choose between the two because I must go on July.... It was really sad but I decided to go for UGRAD exchange because it suited me more and had so much to offer; it is western country (a whole lot difference), credit transfer, long term, fully sponsored and more.  The experience I had in the States was so way too awesome. It opened my window to the world seeing their growth, way of life, culture, value, opinion and the like. I had learnt so much more than just academic aspect. Some Cambodian I know there or in Cambodia said I should not go back to Cambodia
just live there. The country is really admirable but to me, I think I was too young to settle down and I believe one thing leads to another so there is always something out there which I need to discover and aim for. Especially, I love travelling so I am not done with this mission yet..... :P

Words of the Day: Aim high because there is always something out there.........

Procedure:

UGRAD: 1, shortlisted 2, interview 3, Principal or alternative result 4, iBT TOEFL test 5, Final decision from States Department ( Fully paid)

IAPE: 1, shortlisted 2, skype or phone interview 3, final decision (Seeking for fund)

Baby and tough step (1st Exchange Program)

Front gate of USM,
Penang, Malaysia, 2010
I was young and happy determining on my goal on going to study abroad. So one day, I entered a seminar on fellowship hosting by Universiti Sains Malaysia. I was asking the presenter if they have an exchange program and one guy gave me a contact information and meanwhile I also got email at similar from bong Dany saying there is an exchange program to Malaysia and coincidentally it is USM as well. I got in touch with Bong Timol who got there earlier than me but different program while mine is ASEAN University Network (AUN).

APYC, KL, Malaysia 2010
However, it was really tough because it was my first time of all these things: Health check, passport, preparation and more. Especially, it would be my first time abroad and for long time (5 months). Despite all the hardship, I was there in Penang, which is a mixed of Indian, Malaysian and Chinese and very green. My university is called the university of garden and I love it as always. At the same year, I was also selected for Asia Pacific Youth Conference (APYC) in KL which I met a lot of great people and learnt many things.

Words of the day: I Believe One thing leads to another....

Transitioning from a high school to college girl

One confession I have to make here is "I was not a good high schooler until grade 12". I just did not care much about my study because I did  not even know what I like in those subjects, which is very common for a girl from a middle class family in a developing country. I love English because I love that I can interact with foreigners and expose to their culture and so much more about the world around me. That was why I chose to work hard on my English and I also was inspired by how good Love FM djs speak English; therefore, I also wanted to become one. Then, I was once a radio presenter at Sarika FM.

After all the crazy transition period of always asking myself all day and night "What should I go for in college? which college?", finally Institute of Foreign Languages was the first choice even though I knew it would be very competitive and I knew I do not want to be a full-time teacher but I love sharing my idea and experience. Finally, I granted full scholarship of TELF at IFL, University of Cambodia and Mekong University of Cambodia and amount which I chose only IFL and added another degree of International Studies even I had to pay yet I trust in the quality.

To be honest, I would not expect a bad student (me) to be selected and made it through IFL scholarship.

My Class A2.2 :) see me?

Entering college in 2008, I became very active in almost every thing at all because I loved and was eager to learn new things. Every break time at 3:30 PM, I went straight downstairs to the information board and looked for things to do beside schooling so I joined and did quite a lot of things during my freshmen time.

I am not an outstanding student and I suggest you to not only study what is in the books but get out there and see for yourself what are going on with your society and the world.

Words of the day: Working our heart off can create miracle....

Coming back to blogging..."hello, Long time no see"

It has been a whole while that I stopped blogging since 2011 but actually 2010. Some many good and bad things happened during these three four years. And, I would love to share the good ones with you from which you can learn. However, I am so delighted and grateful :) to come back to be who I am after all the years of ups and downs, I am still PHINA the tiny funny girl yet it has taught me so much and made me who i am today. I actually miss the old me though, who were active, funny, friendly, smart and helpful. The level of these personality are getting low while others raised up. I am more an individual and lack of sense caring until I lost a part of myself that I realized I should live my life meaning appreciate and care about my loved ones and things existing around me.

Words of the day: Appreciate and care about your loved ones before it is too late....
